GASTRIC SLEEVE

Gastric sleeve surgery, also known as sleeve gastrectomy, is a weight loss procedure that involves reducing the size of the stomach by about 80-85%.

The surgeon removes a large portion of the stomach, leaving behind a banana-shaped "sleeve." This smaller stomach restricts the amount of food you can consume, leading to reduced calorie intake. The procedure doesn't involve rerouting the intestines, like gastric bypass. It works primarily by limiting the quantity of food you can eat and decreasing hunger-inducing hormones produced by the stomach.

Gastric sleeve surgery is less complex than some other weight loss surgeries and can be performed laparoscopically. It also requires post-operative dietary changes and long-term follow-up for optimal results and monitoring.

Candidate Profile

This bariatric surgery program is recommended for men and women between 18 and 65 years old who:

Have severe obesity (BMI over 30)

Are committed to a lifestyle change to improve long-term health and wellbeing
