Liposuction is a surgery that shapes the silhouette by extracting fat or adipose tissue. It is performed on the neck, arms, abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks, back and thighs using special surgical equipment called cannula which in turn is connected to a vacuum machine that draws or suctions fat from the treated area and which can then be re-injected in another area of the body. (See liposuction + butt lift.)

The incisions where the cannula is inserted are 1 cm.

There are different types of liposuction. The most common are the tumescent liposuction (fluid injection), involving the injection of a medicated solution into the areas to be operated upon before removing the fat, and the super wet technique where the amount of injected solution is equal to the amount of fat to be removed. (Consult with your plastic surgeon.)
