Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty corrects defects by eliminating fat from the middle and lower abdomen and strengthens the muscles of the abdominal wall. The most frequent patients of this procedure are women after pregnancy, who underwent bariatric surgery or who have lost a lot of weight and the aftereffects are flaccidity and loss of muscle tone.
Abdominoplasty can improve abdominal diastasis, abdominal hernias, cesarean scars and eliminate stretch marks under the navel.
By this surgery the patient gets a firmer, flatter abdomen and a narrower waist and muscles are repaired. What must be taken into account is the scar
Mini tummy tuck.
- The first incision is made on the pubis, from iliac bone to the opposite iliac bone (hip bone), (this is a large incision, but it can be covered by the bikini). In the case of a mini abdominoplasty, the incision is smaller.
- The following step is lifting the abdominal wall and suture the abdominal muscles. This will shape your figure, giving support and firmness.
- Excess fat is removed by liposuction, then the skin from above is stretched and joined to the incision removing the excess skin.
- The navel is repositioned while its inside portion is left in the same position and the skin around it is sutured on the outside.
- The surgeon places surgical drain tubes preventing fluid accumulation (approximately one week or until the doctor indicates it.)
- Finally, a bandage or girdle will be placed.
Requirements and Candidates
This surgery is recommended for patients who have decided not to have any more children, since the repaired muscles during the abdominoplasty can be separated by a future pregnancy. The recommended ages are between 30 and 50 years old, meeting normal preoperative test ranges. It is important to mention internal or external scars from other abdominal surgeries. Thoroughly complete the clinical history form.
